Whole wheat bread or wholemeal bread is a type of breadmade using flour that is partly or entirely milled from whole or almost-whole wheat grains. It is one kind of brown bread . Here i have made stuffed braided bread using whole wheat flour. The stuffing can be even made as per your choice.
The recipe is as follows :
For the bread dough :
1& 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1 tsp dry active yeast
Salt as required
1/2 cup milk
Warm water for kneading
1/2 tsp sugar
Dough making procedure:
In a bowl take some warm milk and add sugar +yeast and keep it covered for 10 minutes until the yeast activates and a foamy mixture is formed. Then add the flour and salt as per taste and knead it using warm water. Once done keep this for resting around 1 hour until the dough doubles up (since we are using whole wheat it wont double up a lot).
For the stuffing :
1 chopped Capsicum
1 chopped onion
1 chopped carrot
4 tbsp green peas
2tsp ginger garlic paste
1/ 2 tsp chill powder
1/ 4 th tsp turmeric powder
2 tbsp tomato ketchup
2 tbsp soya sauce
Salt as per taste
1 tbsp Chopped coriander
For making the stuffing :
In a pan heat some oil and add carrots +Capsicum +onion and let it cook for 2 minutes. Then add ginger garlic paste.
Add green peas and cover the pan with a lid and let it cook for 5 minutes. Once the vegetables are cooked add the spices and sauces and give a quick stir . Let it cook for 2 more minutes. Your stuffing is ready when the vegetables are completely cooked.
At the end sprinkle some chopped coriander.
The assembling and baking part.
Roll the dough in a rectangular shape cut mark the sides as shown below.
Now place the stuffing in between and start placing the strips alternately .
Brush this with milk and place it in a well oiled tray and bake this for 15 minutes @180°c .
Then later @220°c for 4-5 minutes until it starts getting golden brown colour.
Your stuffed braided bread is ready !!!!
